16QT Hard Cooler OEM with Shoulder Strap — Custom Molded Cooler Box

The 16QT hard cooler is built for buyers who need more volume than a personal cooler but do not want to commit shelf space or retail price to a full-size insulated box. It measures 380 x 356 x 270 mm, and, company-reported, ice remains unmelted for 60 hours at 25C without frequent opening, and ships with a shoulder-strap portability system that keeps both hands free on the way to the boat ramp, the campsite, or the tailgate.

Maidder Technology Co., Ltd is a custom plastic injection molding ODM/OEM factory in Hengli Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong, China, founded in 2016. We develop, tool, mold, assemble, and inspect this cooler entirely in-house, which means one engineering team owns the fit, the seal, the hinge, and the lid latch from DFM through PPAP. Buyers in North America, Europe, and Japan source this model as a private-label program, and, according to company information, we support a Cambodia production base / OEM Cambodia service as an alternative manufacturing origin.

Why the 16QT Format Works Commercially

The 10QT hand-carry model serves one or two people for a day trip. The 16QT shoulder-strap model sits one step up: enough internal volume for a family day on the water or a two-person weekend, while keeping the outer envelope small enough to fit standard retail cartons and e-commerce shipping tiers. For a brand building a cooler family, the two models share design language and molding philosophy, so a single tooling program can cover both price points.

Typical applications our customers tool this size for:

  • Outdoor retail programs — camping, fishing, hunting, and picnic lines
  • Marine and kayak accessories — cooler fits under most bench seating and in cockpit storage
  • Tailgating and event branding — high-visibility surfaces for LOGO and color blocking
  • Promotional and licensed goods — large flat sidewalls suit pad-printed or in-mold graphics
  • OEM cooler box supply for distributors assembling a full size ladder

Ice retention figures are company-reported for a closed cooler at 25C ambient with normal use. If your program needs a specific validated retention target under a defined test protocol, our engineering team will review the requirement during DFM and confirm what the tooling and insulation design can support.

Shoulder Strap: The Portability Difference

A 16QT loaded cooler is past the comfortable one-hand carry point, so the strap is not a cosmetic add-on. It changes how the product is used, and it changes how the mold must be built.

The strap attachment points, handle geometry, and lid interface are designed together. Pull loads on a shoulder strap concentrate at the anchor, so the housing wall thickness, rib layout, and gate placement have to be planned for it. Because we run Moldflow analysis free of charge for complex high-precision products, we can model fill, packing, and warpage before steel is cut, then adjust wall sections and ribs where the load path demands it. That is how we prevent the two most common failure modes on this format: anchor cracking and lid warp that opens the seal.

Tooling Capability Behind This Part

Our mold shop handles multi-cavity molds, auto-unscrewing molds, 2K molds, overmolds, collapsible-core molds, and gas-assist molds, with molds up to 15 tons. Process coverage includes mold manufacturing, injection molding, CNC machining, EDM, and wire cutting, supported by an independent design department and an engineering team with 15 years of experience.

Injection machines are Yizumi and Tairui units from 130T to 500T, running 24-hour shifts. That tonnage range and shift pattern matter for a cooler program: a large box mold with a thick section needs stable, repeatable cycle conditions, and 24-hour coverage keeps sampling and production moving instead of waiting on a single-shift press window.

Quality Control and Documentation

Cooler buyers get burned by batch-to-batch variation — a lid that sealed on the sample and leaks on the third shipment. Our control plan is built to close that gap:

  • First-article inspection before production release
  • In-process patrol inspection with traceability
  • Process testing at defined intervals
  • Per-product batch trace codes on every run
  • PPAP approval process for programs that require it

Measurement equipment includes CMM (coordinate measuring), vision measuring instruments, calipers, a colorimeter, and a melt flow indexer, with Minitab statistical software used for data analysis. Color matching via colorimeter is particularly relevant here, because cooler programs often run multiple colorways across a season and the shade has to hold between runs.

The factory holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001:2015. For applicable food-contact programs, tell us your application and target market; we will confirm suitable materials and documentation for your program. Certificates available upon request.

One-Stop Development: From Sketch to Shipped Cooler

Because the cooler is a multi-part assembly — body, lid, latch, hinge, strap anchors, drain plug if specified — splitting the work across vendors creates tolerance stack-up arguments. We keep it under one roof:

  1. Product development and DFM report — we review your concept or sample for draft, wall thickness, and assembly risk, and return a written DFM report before quoting tooling.
  2. 3D printing and prototyping — form-and-fit validation before steel commitment.
  3. Mold and fixture manufacturing — including multi-cavity layouts for programs running more than one colorway.
  4. Injection molding — 130T to 500T presses, 24-hour shifts.
  5. Assembly — straps, latches, hinges, and hardware fitted and inspected.

Commercial terms are built for program buyers: no MOQ (negotiable), and orders under 3000 pcs incur a machine setup fee. Molds belong to the customer, with free maintenance and one-year free storage. If a batch quality issue appears, we answer within 1 day.

Company Project Experience

Our cooler ODM capability covers folding coolers, multi-size hard coolers, and cooler boxes with secondary foam injection, plus large-format containers. Our tooling capability is demonstrated by a documented ECN case: an HP printer base project in 2020 (part F0V63-90005 — engineering change with add/remove steel, welding and remake of CAV/COR inserts, Rev 4.9 to Rev 12.1, mod cost USD 25,000, documented 3-week lead time, customer-approved change order).

The founder's background is separate from these company cases: mold design engineer from 2006 to 2016 at Junyi, Foxconn-group Fugang, and Fuyu, before founding Maidder in 2016.
